Years of Pause and Longing

Three dandelions blowing in the wind at sunset

For years the longing was ever present, like floating dandelion seeds in an endless summer breeze. Sometimes it floated gently around me while other times it swirled with fervor. This longing to write again, to blog again, to create with words and share my images.

After a decade of blogging that began in 2007, these past years served as a season of pause, and of false re-starts. It was a season that readily invited me to thoughts of failure or lack of worthiness – if I was not careful. And even when I was, the battle surged in my mind and burned in my heart. My pen has filled my journal with my prayers to this end. I did attempt a restart about 6 years ago that ended in disaster: I asked a former student to help me with my Wordpress blog. I've seen some of her websites. Nice. She said she knew what to do. So I handed over my blog, and she switched from Wordpress to another web hosting service...and lost years worth of my posts! Though I may never recover those hundreds of pieces I published on my former blog, I will step into this new season with hope that overshadows that scar.

My God is a redeemer. He restores, compensates, and fulfills. God has been the sustainer and keeper of my longings. And He gently reminded me there is a time and purpose for everything under heaven.

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven...a time to keep silence, and a time to speak." Ecclesiastes 3:1,7 ESV

So, welcome, friend, to another re-start of my blog. It's nice to have you stop by. I do hope my words and images, both present and future will inspire, comfort, and motivate you.

Leave a comment and tell me about your own journey of longings, pauses, or re-starts. I look forward to hearing from you!
